Access: Granted. Deepen discovery with OpenSPR
Get the publication-quality binding kinetics and affinity data you’ve been missing, without breaking your budget.

Open your lab to uncompromised SPR
OpenSPR offers entry-level, benchtop SPR at a fraction of the cost of competitors, without compromising data quality.
Nicoya’s OpenSPR® platform is a 2-channel instrument, developed to reduce the cost and complexity of SPR assays, while allowing more labs access to kinetic insights. Utilizing our proprietary localized SPR (LSPR) technology, the OpenSPR platform provides accurate and robust data, all from your lab bench.
Bring SPR to your benchtop
By design, our streamlined LSPR technology packs high-quality interaction analysis into a small benchtop footprint. This lets you reclaim lab space and gives your team room to grow, adapt, and scale future research.

Label-free analysis at a fraction of the cost
OpenSPR utilizes nanosensor technology to keep instrument, consumable, and service costs low. This allows your lab to do more with less.
Keep your students ahead of the game
OpenSPR provides students with hands-on access to a vital, widely-used technique shaping the fields of drug discovery, biochemistry, and medical diagnostics. Training your students on OpenSPR helps prepare them to start their careers or continue in their research.

Maximize your throughput with OpenSPR-XT
Add on the XT Autosampler to increase OpenSPR’s throughput without purchasing a new instrument. This tool automates OpenSPR workflows, allowing for walk-away operation, increased overall sample capacity—and more data with less hands-on time.

LSPR – The core of OpenSPR
Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is a variation of traditional SPR. Instead of using a continuous gold film, LSPR uses metal nanoparticles (typically gold or silver). These nanoparticles produce a strong absorbance peak in the range of visible light, and are highly sensitive to the local refractive index surrounding the particle. OpenSPR’s advanced spectrometer measures small changes in the nanoparticles’ absorbance wavelength, before translating them into binding events.
LSPR has a number of significant advantages, including:
- Simpler optical hardware that allows for a smaller, sturdier and more affordable instrument.
- Since measuring a reflected light angle is not important, the instrument is much more robust against vibration and mechanical noise
- No strict temperature control simplifies operation.
- Sensor chips that can be manufactured at a much more affordable price
- Ease of use and maintenance
